Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi capital will host the 28th General Assembly of the Arab Football Federation next Monday, during which elections will be held for the President and members of the Federation’s Board for the new 2025–2029 term. The agenda also includes the nomination of candidates, representing the 22 Arab member associations, for the judicial bodies and the Federation’s supporting committees. The meetings will be preceded by the 79th session of the Federation’s Board.
The Federation’s General Secretariat had earlier notified the member associations of the timetable and procedures for nominations to the Board, judicial bodies, and committees, with the nomination period closing on August 31.
On this occasion, Dr. Rajallah Al-Sulami, Secretary-General of the Arab Football Federation, welcomed the member associations, expressing his gratitude for the great support the Federation continues to receive from the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, whose commitment to Arab sports has been instrumental in strengthening the Federation’s programs and activities.
Dr. Al-Sulami also noted the close attention and support provided by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal and the Board members, which encourages the Federation to press ahead with organizing more tournaments and competitions.
He further announced that the General Assembly will unveil the Federation’s competitions calendar for the 2026–2029 seasons, featuring a rich lineup of tournaments for Arab clubs and national teams. In addition, the Assembly will announce the member associations that have submitted bids to host these events.
Dr. Al-Sulami added that the upcoming Assembly coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Federation’s founding, a milestone that will be celebrated in the coming period.
