At the start of the first round the King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs.. Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya from Iraq draws with Al-Shabab from Saudi Arabia.. Al-Hilal from Sudan beats Manama from Bahrain
Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya from Iraq drew with its Saudi guest Al-Shabab, 1-1, while Al-Hilal from Sudan achieved a 3-0 victory over Bahraini Manama, in the first-leg of the first round of King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs 2023.
At Palm Tree Stadium in Basra, Karrar Nabil scored the goal of Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, while Al-Shabab equalized through Aaron Bubenza, before the 2nd-leg match on April 16 at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.
At the press conference after the match, Qahtan Jatheer, Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya coach, said: “We played with a great team and performed well, and we are satisfied with the result, we suffer from the pressure of the matches and are working to rotate a number of players, our level is on the rise and we have players at a distinguished level.”
For his part, Vicente Moreno, Al-Shabab coach, said that his team faced a strong club and a difficult opponent at home, noting: “Al-Shabab players made a good show and created many opportunities, especially in the second half, but they were not exploited well, we were the closest to winning, and another strong match awaits us at home in the second leg, I thank all the players who gave a strong performance despite the absences we were suffering from”.
In another match, Al-Hilal from Sudan achieved a 3-0 victory over Manama of Bahrain, at Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman.
Al-Hilal goals were scored by Fabrice Ngoma, Galoudi Maccabi and Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, while the two teams will play again in the second leg on April 10 at Khalifa Stadium in Manama.
The third match of the first round of King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs 2023 will be held on Tuesday, when Muharraq from Bahrain faces its guest Al-Seeb from Oman, at Ali bin Hamad Stadium in Manama.
Each team is looking for a positive result before the upcoming rematch, which will be held on April 4 at Al-Seeb Sports Stadium in Muscat.
